Diagnostics & tools

The L322 is a heavily electronic car, and proper diagnostics are essential, for air suspension and gearbox especially, a cheap generic code reader is not enough. Knowing what kit reads what will save you money and wrong-part guesswork.

TestBook/T4 and SDD/SDS are OFFICIAL Land Rover tools; the others are established INDEPENDENT / enthusiast tools.

Why proper kit matters

DON'T GUESS No air-suspension part should be replaced on symptom alone: read individual height sensor live data first. The same goes for the gearbox: many "failures" are a position sensor or low voltage, not a €3,500 rebuild. Diagnose, then fix.

Useful home tools

An OBD2 reader that can read manufacturer codes (and ideally EAS) for quick checks.
A thermal/IR thermometer, compare front/rear disc temps to spot a sticking EPB.
Decent jack and axle stands, and the relevant Torx/E-Torx sockets for driveline work.

Notes

For gearbox fluid-level checks, use a tool that reads transmission oil temperature and follow the procedure for the exact gearbox. ZF's guidance varies by transmission; a single temperature range should not be applied to every ZF or GM unit. When in doubt, use an L322 specialist. See running costs.
